Points to check when giving response on a discussion essay:
Introduction - Is it inviting and does it preview the main topic and structure of the essay?
Support for topic - Are the supporting details and the information relevant?
Facts - Are the facts reported accurately and are there sources?
Sentence structure - Are there run-on sentences without linking words or full stops?
Grammar - Are there grammar mistakes? Look specially at the verbs?
Personality - Has the writer transformed the information in a personal way?
Conclusion - Is there a conclusion? Do you understand what the writer is getting at or are there loose ends which the writer should tie up?
